Day 1 (Saturday)
Overcast all morning, arrived at the airpot around 7:30am, still have a few things to do, install landing gear fairings, finalize the packing, sort out what can be left behind.
can never be ready for the trip, even give me another week will still not enough, so many things to get prepared --- fix up the airplane myself (brake system, tires, service the engine, rig the plane again so the aileron gust lock can work when the flap set to neutral), I did all the maintenance myself, plan the route, prepare border crossing documents, take care of my own meals, do my own laundry and moving to new apartment two weeks ago.... so many thing needs to be done.
Sky opens up at 11am, by 12 it's already blue sky, I rushed to the bank to deposit a check I received from the apartment, then go across the street to Walgreen to get a bottle water, yeah! these are the last things I need to do before fire up the engine and taxi to self serve fuel pump to fill up the tanks then activate the flight plan and take off.
1PM, I am on runway 29R for take off. I climb out and request box climbing to reach LA special flight rule corridor altitude -- 4500 feet, dial in the squawk code 1201, follow the route I progrommed into GPS and head toward the North.
Departing Los Angeles basin

flying through central California

I follow I-5 this time, seems to be easier then last time.
Arrived at Oroville around 5PM, after closed the flight plan, went to the bathroom, topoff the tank then head toward Reb Bluff. Only a short hop to reach Reb Bluff.
I checked a couple of hotels, one has a free shuttle service, but the kids screaming behind the telephone changed my mind, the other is Comfort Inn, shuttle service is not availble today. So, I camp out at the airport, very peaceful, very comfortable, enjoy the fruits and snacks I brought with me. I have my own "Comfort Inn" at the airport.
I was able to see the stars during the night, I was the only one at the airport, very peaceful and very relaxing.
